Ms. Nakisuyi Rukia like many others heard of the CFE program at a time when she had nothing. The Centre for Evangelism program was divine intervention for her. They were living in abject poverty.

After the training, they had nowhere to start off from. So to build up capital, they agreed as a family to offer casual labour on a sugar cane plantation in their community. Rukia and her husband defied disability to begin their journey to an abundant life. They are a unique determined team. Together
they went out with their children to work on a sugar cane plantation and with the money they were paid they bought a sewing machine.

Another lesson Ms. Nakisuyi Rukia testifies learning is how to save when she joined the CFE program. She said, “We were taught to save and have something rather than spending everything.”
Every week I save Two Thousand Uganda Shillings. Using her savings she also started trading in eggs
but they did not do well. I used to get a tray of eggs at twelve thousand Uganda shillings, boil them and sell off at fifteen thousand Uganda Shillings. I would make a profit of about Three Thousand Uganda Shillings in two days. But she is looking to go back into that business.
From the profit Rukia made selling eggs, she managed to buy a chick that was being sold by a neighbor at Five thousand Uganda Shillings. That one local chick has grown and hatched more birds. The chicken has helped supplement on their feeding a more balanced diet having some eggs
and occasional chicken that previously they hardly enjoyed.
Another achievement they have made is seeing their son finish Senior four. They were able to pay the fees balance using a loan they got from their savings group. To pay back the loan they made bricks which they hope to sell off.
